I've play many mouthpieces including some really high priced stuff. I'm back to my good old Meyer 7 Soprano mouthpiece I've played for 15 years.

As I look at the chamber, it's very similiar to the Selmer Soloist that everyone (including me) had to have. Round Chamber - Squeeze (Slightly) Style throat and a mild roll over baffle. I know there's difference, but I haven't heard much about Meyer Soprano pieces. They also don't show up on E-bay that often.

I tried a Meyer 8 and the sound was huge- too pitchy to keep on my vintage horn but very full and expressive sound.

Are there any Meyer Soprano players out there? And is there a NY/USA Meyer soprano mouthpiece out there that cost BIG BUCKS?

I don't own any Meyer's for soprano but have played some modern ones. They were 5's and too small for me but all played well.

I have a Meyer 6 that I don't use any more. It sounds great in the low and midrange, but it pinches off the high notes too much. It could be that it just needs to be reworked by someone who knows what they are doing, but I'm happy with my Morgan for now.

It is really a shame that what once was the premier producer of the finest mouthpieces available in the world for artists has become a hastily mass produced, less than mediocre product only suitable for students.

I have a Meyer New York 4M soprano, it's a good piece. The smaller tip opening makes it lean toward classical playing. I have been considering opening it up but have reservations about devaluing it from it's original condition.

Has anyone seen an older Meyer rubber soprano mouthpiece made from a very large blank? Its chamber has a squeeze that is smaller in cross section and rather than round is a sorta flattened circle type shape. The new ones I've seen resemble the alto Meyers with a wider circular chamber, and their blanks are much smaller. For me the older one played well, but my friend wants to keep his! I was curious about the vintage of it if anyone could help.
