Hi, I recently bought a mouthpiece by mail from the States. When it arrived, I had to pay VAT before it was released to me-all fair.

Now, I want to send it back to the maker for an adjustment. Does anyone in the UK know if there is a way of doing this without paying the duty again (at both ends)-can you declare it as some kind of temporary export, and how is this practically done?

Thanks, Jamie

yes what you must do is keep your proof of sending the
item and clearly write on the item descripition that it is a return
when recieving the item back even if it's from custom show them your proof of sending item you may have to pay the post office first then claim the duty back. Also if the sender values it less than $100 this would probably slip through and get delivered to your door .So if you send it back use the signed for opion at the post office to which you can track you item and they give you a slip with it's tracking number so customs cannot argue

hope this helps

That's exactly what I needed-cheers.
