Hey all,
Follow this link for a very interesting horn. I'm not sure if it's a legit auction or not. The language is horrible and I can't believe anyone would try to sell something with this description, BUT the photos are very interesting. What kind of horn is this. The auction claims it's a Buescher, but I've never seen anything like it before.

It looks almost like an Eppelsheim. It's definitely a "home grown" horn, probably made out of a bass and bari parts. You can see the "low g" is at the end of an extension, just like Conn did with their student model low A baris in the 60s. Quite an interesting beast!

Ha! Thanks Scottie!!!
Jason, I think you're on to something. If you remove the middle bell extension and slide the 'top' bell into its place it looks like you'd have a normal vintage bass sax. It would be interersting to see the keywork a little closer...

It appears to use the original bell with a parallel extension before it. Wonder how it plays. Plating looks like it has some issues. Reminds me of those south american jobs. nicko

I thought I had cured my sax buying addiction with the low A bass just before Christmas. http://www.shwoodwind.co.uk/Reviews/Saxes/Bari/Keilwerth_SX90_special_bass.htm
Now it seems I'm missing two extra notes - or maybe I'll soon be missing 15,000 notes. No. I'm really not going to be tempted, although it does look interesting.

Ps Is it a Welsh thing to be interested in going really deep ?

Guys I'd be willing to bet this is one of the extensions done by this guy down in Brazil who will extend your tenor, bari or bass. If you search here I am sure you can find the thread that has the link. In any case, the auction price is not worth it as that guys extension work is no where near that kind of price.

I agree with Randall - that's a crazy price for that horn.
Hard to know what a good price would be, but my low A Keilwerth special is more than enough for me.

This sax has been relisted on the UK ebay here.

It has fewer pictures, but the same ones on the american ebay, has exactly the same description and has been listed under a different name with no user history.
It does seem a bit of a hoax but who knows!

Whyh are there two different cases, and two necks? I know he said that there is a short neck for "tuning", but nothing is said about the other neck. Just wondering.

Something is not quite right here. The original listing was asking for US$10,000 yet the second listing was won for £510.00?
In the first auction the location is listed as: hyannis, MA, United States
In the second auction the location is listed as: Edington, Westbury, Wiltshire, United Kingdom
What am I missing here? :?

What am I missing here? :?Looks like some is trying to sell a horn that he/she only has pictures to. And it maybe that someone fell for that old ruse. :(
Still luv that picture Wade but the twin marching bass saxes was the best pic! I'm luvin' your old Buescher. Played it for two hours last Friday in a sax section practice for an upcoming gig. Paul Woltz made it a real honker. Still don't know how you got by without a spit valve! 8-)

The Spit valve was on the list. I am really missing the Bass since I am now getting the Community Band started for the July 4th parade. My baritone sax has fallen apart so it won't be usable for the parade. That means I will be playing my C-Melody!
Glad you are enjoying the Bass!

I would definitely be suspect to buying this. Who in their right mind would spend 12 grand on something like this anyway? I can think of better ways to spend that kind of $$.

seems to me adding a section of tubing like that into a horn is really going to knock it out of tune!

Well take a look at my sign up date (this week). I have Keilwerth bass sax that plays in tune. No need for a second bass, maybe a down payment on a house!
