Hello,
I play a Lavoz Med. Soft on my Jaguar 10 alto, and was wondering if Fibracell reeds work well on Jags, and also, what strength would be comparable to my current reed? I've seen the charts, but how accurate are they? A 1 1/2 just sounds too soft to me...
Thanks

You are going to have to experiments some. I'd say start with a 2.5. Softer Fibracells sound buzzy, harder ones more clear, but they may be too hard for your Jag 10. Charlie A has numbered Fibracells at a good price. I like them better than the word graded strengths (like med-soft).

If the 2.5 seems too hard, try a 2. But you may want to consider a smaller Jag instead so you can use a 2.5-3. Mo' $, but sometimes that is what it takes to get a good sound and a cmfortable playing resistance.

There is an excellent reed strength comparison chart at www.fibracell.com .

The Lavoz Medium Soft is comparable to the Fibracell Soft.

Over the years I have been using Fibracells, I have found their chart to be accuate.
