Hi,
I am trying to determine if a Borgani soprano I'm looking at is a new or old model. I want one of the new hand made models. I know the serial number and that it has a detachable bell. Is there a list or resource somewhere?
Thanks,
Heath

Does the serial number contain a clearly distinct "J"?

Yes, it does contain a J. I think that means it is a post 2000 production horn, according to another respondent. Is that correct? Thanks.

Essentially...yes. The horn is a "Jubilee" model. Simply put, it is hand-crafted and a VERY fne horn. Borgani gets a bad rap for sub-standard and inferior grade horns, pre-Jubilee. Yes, the pre-Jubilee horns were no- where near the artistry in tone and metalworking mastery of the Jubilee horns...hence the J. The pre-Jubilee horns were/are adequate beginner/intermediate horns at best...but then, how many other sax manufactures offer more than one grade of horn? All of them.
The horn you're looking at is as fine an example of the best modern sax manufacturing has to offer...maybe the best. That's up to you to decide.
I should probably recuse myself from offering an opinion on Borgani horns...I have an unlacquered Borgani Jubilee Tenor. I wouldn't sell it, trade it or anything else...I'm done looking at and questing after horns!

I received it today. It is a silver (not pearl silver) model and it plays great. It has a tone similar to my Kielwerth SX90BG, big and bold, but its fingerboard is much better and faster. If it is as good as it seems on first playing, my Keilwerth might be seeking a new home. Thanks again for your help.
