I bought a SML tenor for only 230 dollars and have it fixed (full revision) for 500 dollars. Do you think I've made a good deal?
The serialnumber is 80XX, is it a Rev.C from 1950?
What's the difference between Rev.C and Rev.D?
Is it a 'good' sax? And what do you think it's worth?
I'm sorry for the bad English, I'm from Holland...

Okay, as the first response let me see if I can cover the range of usual responses to posts like these:
The Serious: You made a great deal. That's a nice horn, they're getting very popular. Could be worth $2,500+ depending upon condition. As for differences in Revs C and D, see www.saxpics.com.
The Sarcastic Predator: Ack!! What a terrible horn. Sell it to me for what you have in it and don't look back!
The Sweet: Wow, you'll love the horn. What beautiful music you'll make with it for the rest of your life, then your kids will love it too for years. You are so lucky. Take good care of it.
The Bitter: Damn! Why don't I ever find those deals! Ebay has ruined everything in the horn market, at least here in the US.
The Usual: Did you run a search before you made this post? Hmm?? Send us proof from your ISP, then maybe we'll talk.
What did I forget?
PS - Seriously, sell me the horn for what you have into it and don't look back.

Hello Dean, thanks for you reply! But unfortunately (for you) I'm not going to sell my horn ;) I'm really happy with it.
I've been searching the forum (and saxpics.com) for the actual difference between the Rev.C. and the Rev.D. models, but without results. Which horn do you consider as being 'beter'?

I've had a few rev d's and seen a couple rev c's.
The differences are minor from the point of view of sound.
Mechanical differences:
octave key mechanism
adjusting screws on top/bottom stack
adjustable bell felts
The rev d's play darker than the gold medals, so its possible that the rev c's are a little darker still in tone-but that could very well be the brass composition from that era as opposed to any design change.
Contrary to popular opinion the gold medals are not the same as rev d with new engraving-there are bore differences, bottom bow differences and bell differences.
Sounds like you got a great deal on a great horn! Enjoy!
