When I move from a low A to a middle E note, the E note squeeks. Had this problem since I started playing on my new Yamaha YAS275 which uses a 4C mouthpiece ! Also intermittent. Never had this problem on my old Jupiter ! Any suggestion would be appreciated..

I know people who have had similiar problems by hitting undesired overtones with a 4c mouthpiece. Try a different MP, and if that doesn't work have a tech look over your horn.

it sounds like the 4c plastic mouthpiece most likely. it is the standard plastic stock mouthpiece that comes with new yamahas. they are just added in there for the heck of it and are really not good mouthpieces. they retail for just a few simple dollars and are bottom of the line stock mouthpieces that are hard to really get out the notes. also, since you are playing on a new horn, the horn may need an adjustment. the best bet, is to first try a good hard rubber mouthpiece. i don't know why yamaha puts those junky 4c mouthpieces in there.

Well, try another mouthpiece.... but it could also be a pad not sealing. If the alternate mouthpiece does not solve the problem, have the horn checked for leaks.

Or... have an experienced player try it. Could be your embouchure needs a slight tweak.

If I had to put money on it, I'd still bet on a leaky pad. :-)
