Pierret Super Artiste
Extra pearl sort of near the side E key, opens a tonehole that appears to be an extra high Eb tonehole. Same size as the palm Eb tonehole, and same distance from top of body tube.
What for?
How old is the sax?
I have a Holton soprano, circa 1915 with such a key.
It's a high D trill for trilling from high C to D.

Sax looks like a 50s or 60s model, but who know for sure?

probably C-D trill keys. Finger 'C', trill this key, get a 'D'...to be correct, tho, this tone hole should be postioned slightly lower than the high Eb key, but higher than high D.

In fact I asked more experienced band members that self same question this very evening about my newly bought Super Artiste.
Nobody had a clue.
It's almost midnight now so I'll spare my neighbours but I'll try trilling tomorrow.
I've already found one answer, I'll try for another : when did they star making the Super Artiste ? I would like to know when my sax was made.
