I just got a 208XXX chu tenor. The original case is in nice condition, so i wanna get another case for it so i wont be beating around a very nice vintage case. What cases fit chus?

I know some of you guys have chu tenors. You can't hide

I don't think you can go too far wrong with a Pro Tec shaped case. They're a nice fit for a Chu, 10M or any split or left bell key tenor. They're not too form-fitting on the inside, which means the left side low B key isn't a problem. Avoid cases made for strictly modern tenors - many are form-fit to take a right side B/Bb keyguard and the lid won't close with anything else in there.

Avoid the square Pro Tecs - they will take a Chu, but they're not as sturdily built. I put my knee thru the narrow side of one not too long ago - turned out there was nothing but styrofoam under the fabric. :x

Others that have worked for me are Berkeley, DEG (plain square wood case, well built), and Walt Johnson. (My WJ may be a special size, but I don't know exactly - I bought it off the rack in NYC and they thought it might have been made for left bell horns, but weren't sure). BAM and Hiscox are highly regarded as well in the WJ price class, tho I haven't tried either.

Paul's right. I have used the ProTec contoured case and it woks great. The DEG is also a good solution, and is built like a (plywood) tank. No experience with the WJ, but they have a great reputation, too.
