Hi all,

I just switched my YAS-62 to a ProTec (not the contoured) case because of the decent reviews that it has gotten over the years and the extra compartment for music. But, because of the switch from my Yamaha case, I'm going to need a neck pouch so that I can either stash in my horn or in the inner "lidded" compartment alongside my reeds and other what nots to ensure it from damaging anything else--or anything else damaging my neck.

I've heard good reviews of the Kiwi Neck/Mouthpiece Pouch (the Original Neckpak) from people online...can anyone else here testify to it's quality, good or bad? I'm a bit scared to put my neck in the bell--can anyone remark on the safety of having the neck in the bell (inside a pouch)--or can anyone else give any horror stories on how having the neck in the bell can be a complete flop? I'll make decision about it based on these! :)

Thanks again,
Joey

I use Kiwi's for alto and tenor and they're great. I can't think of better protection than being wrapped in padding and stuck down a metal tube. As a cheap alternative, just wrap them in diapers and stick them in the accessory compartment.

I've been using the Kiwi for a couple of years, has stood up well. Before that I tried the Neotech version, yuch! the velcro attaches directly to the fabric and it lost it's grip quickly. The Kiwi is roomier as well.

In black or Aztec? Do you have the neck and mouthpiece combination and, if so, how do they fit into your case/horn? I'm a bit concerned about the bulk.

Aztec for sure ;-) I have the one with two pouches. The only time it gets tight is if I try to add too many reeds in with the mpc, just fold it over, and screw it down into the bell. I wind up carrying so much other stuff in other bags that it's not a problem. The Neotech was way too tight with just the neck and mpc in it.

Right now I have the mpc/cap two fibracell reeds in original containers, and the neck, and it fits fine.(Buffet SDA tenor)

Good enough for me Bill, I'll get right on and order one.

I have bent two octave keys by storing the neck in the bell, in a pouch (I'm a slow learner). Maybe it was because I was careless, but I no longer store necks in bells..

Another vote for the Kiwi (black, though) - no problem with room, no bent octave keys.

I have used a cloth bag I made 10 odd years ago to store my VI neck and mouthpiece and have used it without incident since.

I've been using old Crown Royal pouches. Using these has not presented a problem, but I am going to purchase the Kiwi pouches for all of my saxes very soon.

I still use the selmer case which dont store mpces, so for my first two mouthpieces a meyer which comes in a small box, and a vandoren v16 tenor, came with a mpc pouch, then I got my selmer soloist with those huge boxes I looked around for something and I now happilly store the soloist in a kiwi mpc pouch and with room still for when I get my jumbo java which have large boxes as well. THese are simply amazing and dont cost that much.
