Hi

Ive just bought a Couesnon silverplate tenor sax in remarkable condition and the regulating feels good. I have completely stripped it down to give it a good clean and have it re sprung and repadded. It has the brass thumbrest with an "N " stamped on the top and the following engraving on the right hand side of the bell:

"exposition universelle de paris" in a scroll with a medal hanging underneath with 1900 engraved inside.

underneath:

HORS CONCOURS
MEMBRE DU JURY

then an oval with what looks like a monogram with SMG?

below

COUESNON & Cie
FOURNISSEUERS DE L'ARMEE
94 RUE D'ANGOULEME
PARIS

BELOW

an acorn/flaming grenade (v small ) with 24 inside.

It has rolled tone holes on the bow only.
there are no serial numbers anywhere else on the body or crook.

I have some pictures if anyone is interested and if anyone could give me some more information on this nice french horn, It would be appreciated.

Regards

Griff

According to the info on saxpics' site, the number inside the 'pineapple' is the year of manufacture - so yours would be 1924.

Have the other RTHs been filed down, or was it made like that?

Try looking for the serial number in between the tone holes around F or so.
