I need a wider strap than my DeJacques. Was thikning about the Supersling but the hook looks a litle shallow and is it made of plastic? Does anyone use this strap?

I have used the same one for about 20 years, although had laid off for about 7 or 8 in the middle. Good strap, never failed me, but the plastic hook/adjuster thing doesn't slide very well, so I've never liked it much when doubling. I've recently switched to Brancher straps, and love them.

I use the Supersling for bari. I have been using the same one for several years and have confidence that it won't break. The adjusting device doesn't work very well, though. It's constantly slipping down and can be hard to re-adjust if the strap has been used quite a bit. Years ago a company (don't remember the name) came out with an improved version of the Supersling. The adjusment device was smooth as silk yet it never slipped. Problem was the strap used an inferior quality plastic for the hook. The first night I used the strap on a gig the hook snapped clean off about five minutes into the first set. Fortunately I caught my horn before it hit the deck. Had to finish the gig with an alto strap. I've never seen another of that brand of strap since then. Maybe word got around that the hook was unreliable and the company went under. But the adjustment device was a 100% improvement over the Supersling's.

i have a super sling too and it slips too much esp when playing bari. also the plastic hook will break eventually and probably at the wrong time. my favorite wide strap is the paul brodie. best strap period! cant slip and comes with plastic or metal hook and is only 10$ at ww&b

How do you know? Some plastics are a strong as steel. Plus a few people have posted that they have had a Ray Hyman strap for 20 years and it hasn't broken.

I never felt like the hook on my Supersling was in jeopardy of breaking, but it was more shallow than the hook on the Branchers I use now. I feel more comfortable letting the horn hang free with the Brancher straps.

I plan to epoxy a flexible plastic tab over the opening of the hook so that the hook won't fall off. I'm also adding the padding from a neotech strap that I never use because it's too bouncy.

Iīm playing my supersling for I think 20 years now. It never failed. I wrapped a piece of thin leather around the back since I donīt like the nylon on my skin. That way itīs my perfect strap for my MK VI.
