There most definately was a good quality video of a guy--good player too--playing some blues on a Kessler in a club. If I remember correctly, there was a lady singing with him. Anybody remeber that one?

R

Did she sing that song Albert Collins does: "If you love me like you say"?

Hey Tintguy,

You asked a perfectly reasonable question and I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw that post. Sorry I couldn't help.

Rory

ps. From everything I've read about them on SOTW, they're very good for the price and come with outstanding service from Kessler's. Check especially some posts on Kessler saxes by Dave Dolson--a very straight shooter.

I don't think it's about the lack of love. I think it's due to the fact that it appears to be rated as a fine horn, therefore logic would dictate it sounds like many other reputable horns in the right hands.

It's no good waiting to hear what someone else sounds like on it. You won't sound the same. If you like it, buy it.

Hi Russ,

Fair enough and I agree with you. At the same time, didn't you ever give somebody something that he or she may not have absolutely needed just because he or she asked for it, nicely?

This is me, now, but I've been pretty poor most of my adult life, and so I find making big purchases very difficult. Sometimes I'm just looking for some confirmation to help me take the plunge.

In any case, I can't see any reason why we can't figure out where that link is and let the guy have a look at it. Enough said.

Well, here is my reason for looking for a video..... I played for 15 years back in the school days. Bad part is that I've been out of it for 17 years. The guys that I use to be in the band with still have their band and have been bugging me on a regular basis for the past 5 years to pick it back up because they don't want anyone else. I loved playing and it was definately a part of life. Well everyone changes and goes different ways when you get out on your own and then time (and priorities) become a factor.
So... after all this time I regret not sticking with it at least enough to remember what I need to know. So here I am doing a TON of research on the Kessler custom deluxe. After talking to Dave Kessler a few times and asking all the usual generic questions about sound, quality and blaugh blaugh blaugh.... he was extremely detailed in what the sax is from A to Z. THE GUY IS AWSOME HANDS DOWN. Hell, I may fly down there just to meet the guy in person one of these days.
It's like a car..... you know your set on buying one but it sure is nice to do a little reaserch and check out videos or pics or other extremely satified customers reviews. I know the Kessler is not a mclaren or ferrari but I wouldn't spend that kind of money even if I had it. I'll settle for a Vette. It's still great quality and performs good enough for the average guy. Sounds good looks good and built good.
So....enough said. But I'll ask nicely again....Does anybody possibly know of a link or have a hookup to a video of someone playing a Kessler Custom Deluxe Tenor???? Because I'm buying one when they get in and wouldn't mind getting an idea of what it sounds like.

P.S. I'm new to the forum so HELLO TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tintguy: Welcome aboard!!

I agree with Rory AND Russ - it would be nice to fulfill your request. I don't know about the video Rory mentioned.

But honestly, a sampling of someone else playing a certain horn and mouthpiece in no way guarantees how it will play for you. Suffice to say the Kessler tenor will do the job, and just about as well as you can play it.

I have one even though I am NOT a tenor player (much prefer sop and alto), but after trying a couple of higher-end tenors, I chose the Kessler tenor with the Kessler mouthpiece, sight-unseen. I couldn't have been happier with my choice. AND, you are right about Dave Kessler. DAVE

Hi Dave. I think one of the other reasons I decided on the Kessler is because of all of the extremely happy people that have them now. I know that it won't sound the same with me playing it because I'm rusty and am going to be restored. Luckily I won't need a frame off!!! Anyways, I'm glad you got in on the thread and responded. I read several other discussions of you and several other very active people on here for probably 2 weeks now and thats why I decided to go ahead and sign up and be a member also.......lots of knowledge between alot of people. All I know is that I'm really excited about getting back into it. The video is more for the " Thats it right there and I'm gettin one"

:? Er....Yes actually. It's how I choose to treat people 99% of the time.

I'm not trying to put obstacles in the way here, only stating the obvious. That being said, as an active member of this forum I like to productively contribute where I can so if I knew of such a video's whereabouts I would post a link.

You can calm down now with your 'enough saids' ;)

Tintguy, apologies, I wasn't trying to be clever with my earlier post. I do know where you're coming from, however. I've spent hours looking for pics of the particular brands of horn I play. If vids were available, I'd be in heaven :D

Welcome to the forum and I'm sure you'll be very happy with your purchase, with or without a video.
