I have several mouthpieces, but do not know their specifications.
What is the proper way to measure the mouthpiece (rail length, tip opening, baffle, chamber volume, etc.)

You need few basis tools. Glass, feeler and tip gauges are the essential ones. MojoBari has a very nice newsgroup on yahoo ( http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/MouthpieceWork/ ) in which you can find photos of measuring apparatus (including my personal ones), interesting files and links. Here in the modification and refacing section you will also find lot of useful information.
All the best,
Stan
