I guess I a bit bored so I am looking for a new mouhpeice for my SML GM1 tenor. I like my HR link but feel it does not cut so great. I have a Vandoren v 16, not bad. What do you guys use on your GM tenors?

I am using a Jody Jazz ESP .110 on my GM 1 and am very happy with it. Cutting enough, but still warm and fat.

WhisprnJohn , do you use the spoiler with your .110 ? I don't use spoiler with my .105 on my Big B , it really works along with Superial DC #3 too .

Saxy - I use the spoiler for the majority of gigs, but in small venues or when subtlety is the most important I take it out. I use superial DCs. Sorry for the tardy post - I haven't visited this thread for awhile.

I have used both a Ebonite and metal Berg Larsen on my Gold Medal tenor, both with about even results/equal success. Ebonite = 110/0, Metal = 110/1.
I use a Meyer Metal 7 on my Selmer SA 80 Series II that I've used ocasionally on the Gold Medal. It's about as free blowing, but warmer, than the BL...
I play a Wilkerson 7 on my Gold Medal alto, which gives me a really phat sound - big, rich, and can be shaped easily, from warm to edgy. Love that mouthpiece although he doesn't make 'em anymore (it's a shame too, he sold to Rovner and now they make one called the "Rovner Wilkerson" which is a totally different (double-chambered) mouthpiece altogether...) Wish I had one for the tenor; bet that'd be a great big sound...

FWIW - On my GMII I generally use a HR Charles Bay piece around 107. However, when I'm playing with electrified instruments and need a bit more edge, I use a Brilhart Tonalin Streamline closer to 102 w/ a Fibracell 3.5. No problems being heard after that.

Which one are you playing? I might actually have one of the tenor pieces you're looking for...

I had an SML tenor for years. I'm not sure if it was a GM or rev.D.
When I was in HS, mid 1980s, I played a Fla. Link (with a wedge installed by Dave Gaurdala). In 1985 I got a mk6 tenor, and found the Link w/ wedge too bright for it. The SML, however, will take a brighter mouthpiece.
I would suggest, Barrone, Brancher, Berg, Wolfe Tayne, Lawton, Guy Hawkins. You know, traditional type pieces on the brighter side of Links.

I just tested the Barone Ltd Hollywood with Gonzales bass clarinet reed on my GM1: very very nice marriage (for my taste of course:) )
