I'm looking at buying a 5 digit silver mark vi low Bb Bari. I'm going to go check it out tommorow but had one concern whether or not the silver plating is original. Emilio Lyons at Rayburn music told me a while back that Selmer never made a silver plated Mark VI bari. Does anyone know whether or not that is true?

How deep is the engraving???
They made silver mark 6 altos and tenors so why not make a bari,
I tend to think that this horn could have been a custom or a special order model...
but you have to check the engraving....

Saxpics (http://www.saxpics.com/selmer/6.htm) has pics of them... or at least a low A silver bari and a low Bb one in silver with gold keys.

Hello,
Jsharp, you must have missunderstood Emilio about the silver baritones. He showed me an original silver low A VI (around 110K) a couple of days ago. They are rare, but definately out there. Good luck.

I've got a late (1976) low A in silver, had it from new.
