old version series III vs. later series III neck

I had a Selmer Black Series III tenor 7 years ago, and if I remeber correctly, the neck that I had had that " III " located on the front of the neck. But when I see the other later version (purchased in 2002 for example) of series III, the neck nas nothing at all... Am I too sensitive or what....:shock:

might be cost saving type o thing.. like the extra engraving on the older sa80IIs. then again.. its still on the sa80IIs.. so maybe it is a completely new neck.

I've wondered about this too....I've played both types of necks and the ones w/o the "badge" or logo plate or whatever play a bit freer. Selmer might have discovered something; the goldbrass aftermarket neck also has no little badge...
