Came across a 1967 vintage MKVI tenor the other day and noticed the tiny words "Mark VI" etched longitudinally on the rear side upper body just below the left thumbrest.
I take it this is original?
My 1954 has 'Mark VI' in "bullet dot" markings up high near the octave key and I've seen other older horns similar.
First time I see this longitudinally on this particular 1967 horn.
I take it that was the way it was??
Thx

I don't remember it there that late. I have seen it up around the octave lever on some under 100K models though.

Yes,I recognise the markings on the older 5 digit horns near the octave key.It was in 'bullet dot' form that read 'Mark VI' and it was horizontal across the body tube. The one I'm refering to is stamped longitudinally and below thumbrest..much below octave key.I would have to perhaps show u a pic.

I think this kind of stamp was discussed in the thread

It seems that around 1967 (the 14XXXX horns?) Selmer was using a "mark VI" stamp at that place on the horn. My alto has it and so do other horns of that vintage. Earlier and later horns are more likely to have the dot-etching at that place on the body tube or the engraved "Mark VI" on the bow/bell ring.
