Biteplate replacement

I am new to this forum, and sadly i am not a saxaphone player. So if I use the wrong terminology I appologise.

I have an in-law who needs to have a biteplate replaced on a Dukoff D5 or D6 mouthpiece (metal) for and Alto Saxaphone and he is in Australia. He asked me to look around for something to replace it with and I haven't the slightest idea. If anyone knows where I can gdt a biteplate and the glue to send to him I would be in your debt, as I am sure you understand the whole in-law thing. Thank you for your time.

Hello Bryan,

Some use various epoxies available to fill up the pocket and reshape it to fit the beak afterwards, or if you really fills it nicely this won't be the case.

There's no basic (standard or commercial) biteplate available that will fit a specific mouthpiece because of manufactoring tolerances. So this is something a mouthpiece tech will need to do.

I use perspex (in translucent green or blue) I file the new part to fit the pocket EXACTLY and then use a special glue to hold this in place. This material is very tough and is the same I use in my new mouthpieces. If the biteplate on the Dukoff is still attached to the mpc, and not worn out too badly, he can use a mouthpiece toothpatch over the existing piece.

However, if it's fallen out or broken or worn right through, I recommend changing the whole plate.

I ask $45 to do this with shipment incl.
