Runyon kept telling me they were working on a spoiler for the tenor Jaguar. At present they imply it's on hold, since they can't seem to engineer it. Out of all the tenor mpcs I've tried so far, I like the Jaguar best, but I'd like just a bit more edge and volume for playing R&B.

Now I have found a solution. I took the spoiler out of a Jody Jazz alto mpc (that's right an alto mpc) and put it into my Jaguar tenor mpc. Wow, it really works! Increased volume, a bit more "buzz," even easier playing with more reeds, and no real loss of the core sound or playability of the Jaguar. Gives a sound similar to a metal Quantum, but richer and not as harsh. Maybe I've lost the V chamber effect, but until Runyon comes up with something, I'll stick with this spoiler. Just thought I'd pass it on to anyone who might be interested.

If the spoiler wedge does not cover the beginning of the v-groove air passing through there gives an airy noise to the tone. But the idea behind the Jag was a nice, smooth projecting tone, but not buzzy.

Right. The spoiler I put in there does cover the v-groove and there is no airy noise. And I agree that the sound w/o spoiler is very smooth and rich. I actually like that sound very much. But of course, I w`nt to "have my cake and eat it too." With a spoiler the Jaguar still seems to maintain a nice rich tone, but with increased projection and a bit of edge. Every other mpc I've played that has volume and edge tends to sound too harsh. Why not get the best of both worlds out of the Jaguar, if possible? Or perhaps that defeats the main purpose. It's a great mpc in any case.
