Hi
There's this new LT MBII made by a German company...PM, I think.
The chamber looks different from the original MBII...looks more like a King/SuperKing...with the bullet...
What's goin on here?

Hypothetically, if you knew you could make money using somebody's name... and you also knew that person wasn't going to come out in the open to challenge it... well, I wonder if you could get away with that.
Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Also, if you didn't use the person's name and only used their initials, it would be even better.
This mouthpiece has been discussed at length, BTW.

As J.Max mentioned, this subject has been covered at length. But, to quote Samuel L Jackson, "Allow me to retort.": the new MB II is not the old MB II, and, according to how I see it, not an MB II at all. I've owned original MB II's, (several), and the new ones aren't close. It's a shame. The series of mouthpieces that Guardala produced until the late 90's were known, according to the particular model, to have a unique design and a "ball park" tip opening and facing curve length. Pretty consistent, really. If you bought a Super King, or a Crescent, or a MB I or II, etc. you knew what you were getting. They produced the expected results.
I ordered a MB II from Musikhause Thomann and was astounded! I was sent a King/Super King with MB II stamped on it! The chamber of the original MB II has a baffle roughly the size of the Studio with "scalloped" out sides, (the sides being just like the original Michael Brecker model, maybe less), nothing like the extremely high and long bullet chamber/baffle of the "new MB II". Musikhause Thomann accepted my return, (and at least agreed tacitly with my arguments as to why I returned it), and gave me full credit. They were extremely honest with me.
Bottom line, adriancwm, if you're looking for a MB II, forget the new MB II. If design and results are the criteria to determine the success of this new MB II mouthpiece, then the new MB II mouthpiece, produced by PMS Music, is an abject failure. It is not what it says it is. BTW, the package the mouthpiece, ligature, cap and leather bag comes in says: Dave Guardala "Michael Brecker II" mundstuck fur...........I got a pic or two if anyone wants to see................daryl

An excellent point. I wonder how much Dave Guardala actually did with these. They seem very, very different than his other designs.

Dunno. Good question. I'll pass, but the WWBW does have a liberal return policy......
