View Full Version : Ligature for tenor Quantum?

I was wondering what ligatures work well on the plastic Quantum for tenor sax? I've heard the ligature that comes with it isn't so great, and I'll be getting a Quantum in a few weeks. Thankr for the recommendations!

Rovner's the size for HR soprano sax (check their site it will give you the models) and a Consoli Ramplig size C.

I like the BG Traditions. The alto version fits my Tenor Runyon Custom, so would probably fit the Quantum.

I like Winslows on the plastic Quantums. A Rovner Light is a close 2nd. I like Rovner MarkIIIs on the metal Qs and Jaguar. I dunno why, just the right response and sound.

Rovner 1M fits Runyon Alto Quantums (metal and plastic), XL, Smoothbore Metal, and Jaguar.

Rovner 2M fits Runyon Tenor Quantums (metal and plastic), XL, Smoothbore Metal, and Jaguar.

Rovner 1RXS or 1MS fits Runyon Soprano Quantums (metal and plastic), XL, Smoothbore, and Customs. (All Runyon sopranos take the same size ligatures)

Get a metal Selmer Soprano sax lig. It will fit fine and won't dampen the sound like those fabric ligs do.

According to the ligature guide found on the Rovner website (http://www.rovnerproducts.com/LigatureGuide.pdf), they recommended 3ML, L13,C-3ML and 3MLT-EDII. Has anyone tried these sizes for the tenor Quantum Metal before?

Do they fit well?

I have a 2M's on Quantum Metal and Smoothbore tenors now. I have a Selmer soprano sax lig on my Custom (plastic) Quantum tenor.

The 2M fits my Jaguar tenor equally well, but it came with a 3ML, I think. The difference seems to be the material. The 2M looks like vinyl, the Jag's lig looks like rubberized fabric.

If you want to enhance the brightness, use a metal lig. Selmer soprano sax lig fits the tenor Quantum very well.
