Just got my Mindy Abair CD, and she sounds(& looks)great! Can anybody make out what brand of alto she's playing? Looks like a Cannonball, but not sure....

I am curious about the mouthpiece -- looks kinda like a guardala. There are a few other things that I can't quite make out from her pictures that I would like to see.

I've been trying to figure out her sax setup from looking at her pictures too. The mouthpiece looks like a Lawton to me, but I'm not sure. Her alto looks like a Keilwerth 75th Anniversary - silver neck and bell, with black nickel body. Can anyone confirm? I'd really like to know...sure like her sound and am enjoying her CD big time!

Only a chick would have no contact info so you can't just ask her...

Mindi's alto, on the cover of her new album at least, is a Selmer Super Action 80 series I. On her website, she listed what her setup is, but i forget what she said. you can check there.

Scottyhoop,
I've looked all over her web site (mindiabair.com), but can't find anything about her setup. If you know where that page is and could provide a link to it, it would be very appreciated!

Saxnoid, here's what you're looking for:
I play a selmer super action 80 series 1 alto saxophone. I play a yamaha 62R curved neck soprano saxophone. On alto I use a gary sugal custom mouthpiece with a Hemke 2 1/2 reed with an Oleg ligature. On soprano I use a rico metalite mouthpiece with a Hemke 2 1/2 reed and a Rovner ligature.
Thats Mindi's stuff....not mine! :-D
