i've been using the rovner deep eagle V 6 facing with rico 2.5 or lavoz med. at first it seemed like a strange piece because of the huge window(which also makes it to where if you use a reed on it for a while, you won't be able to use that reed on another mouthpiece at all), but after i played on it a while, it grew on me. i've played meyers, otto links, runyons, vandoren..and this has been my favorite. of course, i didn't have to pay for it so price wasn't a concern for me...i was wondering, does anyone else use a rovner mouthpiece? i ask because i haven't talked to another saxophone player who does, and i'm curious.....

I only know of one alto player that uses a Rovner mouthpiece, and yeah, the window is pretty impressive in that it's around 3/4 the length of the table.
I've been playing alto some recently on an L6 Deep V (nickel plated brass) and it's quite nice. Aside from the angled body making the ligature fit a bit awkward (had to use a Rovner!) I think the piece is really wonderful - nice bright full sound. Lots of projection, very free blowing.
Of course, I was compelled to do a little work on it - make sure it's table was flat with a good facing curve. My concern was that with the Deep V design that the table area REALLY needed to be flat - much more possibility of leaks. I opened mine up a bit while working on it - to around .085" or so.
I play BARI or Fibracells for these kinds of pieces, but I could see where using cane for a while could make an impression if you strap it on really tight.
With thinner side rails, it would be a Jody Jazz DV contender.
