I play a B&S bari sax and the D1 and D2 are too sharp and the upper register is a bit low. (E3, F3). A friend of mine plays a Weltklang bari and has exactly the same problem. Is this a special problem of bari saxes or a special problem of B&S and Weltklang bari saxes. My mpc is a metal link #6 with RJS 3H and i like the sound. Thanks.

I was just wondering which model bari you have....Medusa, 2001, or 1000?

Yana, it sounds like you may be a younger/not-so-experienced player? If so, the problem is most likely in your embouchure and breath support- especially if YOU are having the same response on two different horns. Why not play your friends Weltklang and find out?
Generally speaking the upper register of the bari will tend to be sharp for most people, not flat.
The B&S pro models are among the finest available and have SUPERB intonation. Are you playing a 1000 or 600 model horn? If you are playing the intermediate models, I cannot vouch for their quality.

Is your bari in good playing condition? No leaks? no dents?
There are a lot of factors that could possibly explain your problem....so try your friends bari first and see if you get the same response as your B&S.

Thanks for your help. The bari i play is B&S 1000. I think this is not the top model of B&S baris. I play mainly tenor, soprano and alto. I think the more i practice with the bari the better the intonation will be. Thanks again.

yana...keep at it, try some different mp's and reeds and I think you'll eventually get it.
I remember when I first started on bari, my upper notes were really out of tune too.
