View Full Version : As-new Buffet R13 for sale

Actually better than "new" because most R13s need some setup to perform their best. This horn has been set up and tweaked (by Janet Harmon of Second Wind in Albuquerque, NM) and plays well in the hands of a serious clarinet player - a little darker than the '60s R13 I compared). It doesn't get the requisite attention from me so I'm offering it here. If it doesn't sell, it will go to my daughter (although she will probably think it an antique by the time she's old enough to appreciate it).

Serial number 4685xx. Comes with both original barrel and an Eddie Daniels (DEG?) barrel. Seeking offers approaching $1800. Ships from Santa Fe, NM.

Payment preferred by US Postal money order. PayPal accepted if you pay the fees.

Please contact me either by PM or at GeoKasch at Juno dot com.

Yes. It is maintained with a humidy controller - very stable, rings are all tight, no cracks. Mouthpieces available.

Trades considered but I'm mostly set with gear. Areas of interest include sops and tenors.

Price drop to $1700. Offers considered.

Yes, it's still here. Consider me "motivated". Cash speaks.

$1650

Awakening a dormant thread to find this horn a home...

Anyone need a GREAT clarinet for school this fall?

$1600.

To add a little context for those that haven't done any clarinet shopping recently:

Music123.com lists the clarinet at a MSRP of $4279 and their sale price at $2567. This clarinet is as-new plus has had a pro setup. Save another $1000!

HMMMmm, let me try this on you

Clarinet sent. ????

Dr G

Nah, he said that he's sent a PM and I replied that I sent one too (hoping to imply to the insightful reader that I had sent a return PM). Sorry for the failed attempt at cleverness.

So, are you interested too? In a clarinet, that is, not a PM. ;) Of course, I would answer a PM from you, too, but I digress... What was the question?

Sorry to hear that. Are we still talking clarinets? :(

Clarinets, saxes, cars, computers...

Ms. hakukani says no, even though SHE just got a darling black labrador retriever puppy.

She's still bent out of shape for me embezzling funds to buy mouthpieces. Like I didn't NEED these mouthpieces--and a fine buffet clarinet would be a great addition, the pup and clarinet are both black, right? but no, nooo...jeez <grumble>

Dr G

Enjoy the pup. I hope you realize that black labs tend to be pups for most of their lives.

Mmmmm, mouthpieces... Sometimes I feel like I'm somewhere between Homer Simpson and his donut fetish and Cookie Monster. Yum.

Do you have an idea of what shipping would cost? Is there any sort of warranty/guarantee/something-like-that?

So this clarinet can only be played in the PM? What if I have a morning job in the AM?

So is it still for sale? (just wanted to help get the thread back on topic)

Shipping to where? From here to Australia is about $40, from here to New Jersey is about $20. They are not that cumbersome.

Guarantee? I guarantee that it is a solid, as-new instrument. I cannot guarantee that you will play any better. ;)

Yes. I have recently sent pictures but am awaiting the outcome.

FWIW, the clarinet looks like a new R-13. That should be no surprise. 8-)

The keywork is silverplated and has a lovely luster.

Looks like the potential buyer-with-a-tight-budget just scored a windfall and bought a new RC instead.

R-13 is still available. Still relatively unplayed and in as-new condition.

What's wrong in this picture? Nobody needs an R-13 that wants to save a kilodollar???

Hello, Smallvillesax... (Is this microphone on? Can anyone hear me?)

We got to "I'll definitely buy this horn" and then the line went dead.

Anyone know Smallvillesax? Is he still 'round?

Dr G ... PM /email me - i'm not sure the price you are looking for
Thanks

Thanks for the renewed interest. My last posted asking price was $1600.

Talk to me. If I'm lucky (does bad luck count?), this might cover the cost of repairing the suspension failure on my truck that occurred last week. :(

The GOOD news is that my whole family has now had the flu so there is no more wondering about who is going to get it next. ;)

Am I smilin' yet? :|

Lots of "negotiation" and queries but the bottom line is that it is still available.

Asking $1550.

Pictures of a new R13 (this one) available via e-mail.

Hmmm, I don't know. I think my Ref 36 ad had some legs too.

But yes, I am glad to see it converge to a close.

Hello,
I have a pristine 1929 Buescher (The) Aritocrat alto that I might trade.
It looks and plays beautifully. The original silver plate is near perfect, recent pads, extra set of Norton springs, protec case, etc.........
It has a sweet sound and a great "feel".
