I own a rare Conn Connqueror (30M) tenor from, I believe, 1941...excellent, beautiful tone...purchased a couple of years ago at Rayburn Music, Boston from Emilio Lyons, who got it into perfect playing shape . It was repadded fairly recently. It is recognized as one of the finest vintage horns-beautiful tone. Eric Alexander played my horn and 5-6 other tenors (including I believe 3-4 Mark VI's, a Ref. 54 and one or two others) at a jazz workshop, and liked the sound of my horn better than all of the others. It plays well along its entire range and the pads are in good shape. There is a repair just below the neck (solder), and it has been relacquered...good job....Emilio Lyons told me he believes it was done long ago in the Conn factory, though I cannot vouch for that.

I would be interested in trading this horn for a quality baritone, and money could be exchanged in either direction to even out the deal. I could also throw in a Lawton 7B mouthpiece in very good condition...hardly used.... if desired. The horn comes with a hard case (sort of ugly but very functional...I don't know if it was original). I also have a Yamaha student tenor that I could toss in if interested.

If interested, please contact me at dontshoot@outgun.com. I can provide additional details. I live in Massachusetts.

Thanks.

Michael
