Disregarding the current consistency issues, how does a good playing Link HR compare to the Morgan M & L? How about the Tenney custom HR link?
Thanks,
David

I too am interested in the question. I wanna stop using metal mpc, and so buy a HR one (should I try wood ?). And on my short list, there is the Doc Tenney HR Link and Morgans (L and EL) (and Lambersons, but it's not the point).
The good way to answer this type of question is to try the mpc. Unfortunately, I have no shop here (France) where I can try those.
I can only imagine what is a very very good HR Link (or be very lucky to find one in a shop !). So I also need help !
thanks

Strictly personal preference. I have a nice Link and its tough to beat. I've tried alot including Morgan L and M chambers. The Morgans were OK but the Link I have has a depth and fullness I like. A friend came over and tried the Morgan M and put it on his horn. It was an amazing difference. It was clear and clean . he sounded great on it. He bought it on the spot from me. We were talking about how it is really an individual thing. You need to try for yourself. Links can be inconsistent,Morgan ,Lamberson, are really well made.Doc Tenney does great work but not everything he has worked on will play great for you. Its definitely a trail and error, and process of elimination as to what you favor in a mpc. The other thing is playing the same one for a long time. Then you really get to understand how to get the tone out of that particular mpc.
