I can get a brand new 82z for 3700 taxes in (Canadian). I'm wondering if this is a reasonable price for this type of horn?

Nope, I'm in university, and I don't know what Long and Mcquade is, I've never seen one. Is it American? I obviously live in Canada.

I paid about AU$5000 after trade in of my previous saxophone for my YTS 82Z. It retails for about AU$7000 here in Australia.

the ref 54 will (in perspective) be a better deal than the 82z. Long and McQuade is Canada's largest music chain. I'm guessing you don't live around the major cities then.

IMO due to the strength of our dollar, if you are willing to take a small risk, you should check out the horns from the states.

Vagrog,If you are not in a rush ,whenYamaha has a sale, happens maybe twice a year, stores like Twigg and L'Atelier Du Musicien (in Montreal)will have great deals on a few 82 Z tenors that will go around 36 hundred, but this happens I think just once or twice a year and also for about a week!So maybe just give them a call and ask about the big sale of Yamahas.I think there was a sale in January, but should be another soon!I remembered last year they did had about three in stock for that sale, but they do sale fast!
All my regards

I was able to pick up a new Yamaha YBS62 for $4200.00 CDN tax's in about 2 years ago when Yamaha was doing an inventory purge. I work at Long & McQuade during the summer months and I didn't buy from them.
Check around the deals are out there.

YAS-82Z at Long & McQuade is $2995+tax for the regular Honey Lacquer. The most expensive versions (silver) is $3495+tax.

Do note, Yamaha's are only available from our BC Stores, and Burlington / Mississauga stores for all levels in Ontario, and Toronto Bloor Store for Professional Models.

Haven't you heard of L&M???
If you need something, they will have it at one of their stores usually.
Tom Lee is also good, they have lots of items on their web page but even more in stock at one of their many stores, so ask even if you dont see on their online page.
