I have a Dukoff D7 that I used extensively for a few years, and I want to sell it off now.

The piece is in flawless condition, however, it's gotten very very tarnished at this point. It has dark blotches all over the inside and out.

I was wondering if using a metal polish will affect the sound at all? Or is this like relacquering a horn, and you just don't want to do it?

I really want to polish it off before selling it; people like shiny objects. But if it'd affect the sound whatsoever, it's definitely out of the question.

Thanks for your insights!

I'm not sure that Tarnex would work on Dukoff or not, but you can try. I don't think it will effect the sound since it is not polishing. Don't leave it in too long.

I polished mine with silver polish, worked well.I would not recommend polishing the table or the rails though. Also, cover the bite plate with tape before polishing the piece.

Thanks for the advice!

I'll shine the outside with some polish and see what that does. I guess there's no point in polishing the inside, that just gets covered up anyhow.
