Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but...

How do Oleg's saxes stack up? I've not seen anything about them on SOTW.

Funny you should ask, I just tried one last week. The other tenor player on a gig had one, so we swapped to compare his gold plated Oleg to my Reference 54.

The Oleg played great. The thing that struck me was how even it played from low Bb to altissimo. The low notes were effortless. The tone was a shade brighter than my 54, but very full. It played very open, which I like--not resistant or stuffy. If I was more of a contemporary or rock player(and I didn't love my 54) I would consider getting one. The other tenor player sounded killer on it.

I don't know why you don't hear more about them. I had never even seen one before last week. Definately a horn worth checking out--if you can find one.

The Oleg saxes are a bit too free blowing, making the high register harder than other brands.
