I have a mpc that emits a pretty nasty burning rubber smell and taste after about ten minutes of playing.

I applied two coats of carnauba wax to both the inside and outside. There are several brands of carnauba available. I tried Mothers

After playing the mpc for two 45-minute trials on consecutive days there is still no smell.

Carnauba wax is a product of a Brazilian palm tree. It is non-toxic. It is also extremely hard (which is what makes it such a good automotive finishing product), so if you buy pure carnauba wax then you get essentially a brick which I don't know how you'll apply to a mpc. If you buy in liquid or paste form (as I did) that means it's been mixed with some (toxic) solvents to make it easy to apply. I think all the toxic stuff evaporates as the wax itself hardens and adheres. Or maybe there are some silicon polymers (sounds innocuous ... I think) that also harden and adhere (if they don't come off readily then they can't kill ya ... I think).
