SC901 Mouthpiece

Aloha,

My Sc901 will play in tune fine with the Dukoff D7 mouthpiece but I have trouble staying in the low register below middle "G".

I can play all notes easily with my Rascher mouthpiece, but I can't get the horn in tune. All the way in and I am STILL 1 full tone flat.

Any ideas?

rbellizzi: I suspect your horn may be outta whack. I have an SC901 and an SC902, either of which will play in tune top to bottom with any soprano mouthpiece that will play for me (meaning some pieces don't play well for me on any horn to which I affix them). I use the Selmer Super Session-J and soft reeds - and both horns will peel paint with that set-up. I also have an old Scroll-shank C* with a harder Fibracell reed that plays okay - and other pieces, too - all in tune. You may want to check closely for a mechanism or pad that is not sealing correctly. Low end problems often come from hi-end leaks. DAVE
