??ne tell me the difference between the 'F' and 'YJ' hard rubber alto pieces by Charles Bay? They seem pretty expensive, are they worth it? How do they compare to Morgans or other high-end rubber pieces?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

That should begin, "Can anyone ..?"

No takers? I guess these are pretty uncommon. Well, I've got the YJ on trial in a 7 for alto. It plays (and looks inside) somewhat like a Lakey rubber but much smoother and more flexible. The highs are kind of thin. Pretty good, but not worth $220 methinks. The ligature looks fancy but hardly works at all. I'm curious to know what the 'F' model is like.

Bay is very popular among clarinet players. His open bass clarinet pieces are great for big band doublers. I have one I like a lot.

I imagine his sax pieces are mostly purchased by people who are primarily clarinet players and like his clarinet pieces. So they give his sax pieces a shot.

I have not tried his sax pieces. But I think there are plenty of good sax pieces out there that are easier to get a hold of and cost less $.

mojo as a mpc tech you would apperciate the craftmanship that goes into bay sax mpcs. yes there are cheaper mpcs that can do the same job but i havent seen ANY sax mpcs better made. better workmanship than a morgan even .

Like I said, I have a Bay bass clar piece and the workmanship is superb. I would expect nothing less out of his sax pieces.
