I have a Chu Berry (bare brass) here that is in perfect condition, but arrived to me with two of the pivot screws with the slots twisted out. I got them out and put the posts back looking perfect, but don't have a lathe to turn new screws. These are the 4-40 thread with the narrowed section in the middle for the set screw and 1/16" cylindrical mating pivots. I am going ahead swapping some old King screws using an external lock nut, but would like to get some correct ones as the external locknuts mar the look of an otherwise pretty nice horn.

Anyone know of sources or have a parts horn with pivots?

It's an alto, although that doesn't matter, but someone would surely ask.

You can get original style replacement screws from Kraus Musical Products. They are exactly like the old Conn screws. You can get pivot locking screws from Ferree Tool.raus sells only to repair shops. Ferree sells to anybody.

Ferrees denied that they had anything like this...do you know what to tell them to order. I am not a repair shop, but have been doing overhauls for local music shop and for the school system here. Any clues on how to get Allied and Kraus to sell to me? Do you have any contact info on Kraus?

You can contact Kraus at:

If you're doing overhauls for music stores and school systems, I would assume you have a business liscense and a tax ID number. With that, you will have no trouble. If you don't have those things, you have retained your amateur standing and should not take money for doing repairs. That seems obvious enough to me.
