Hello. I've been playing soprano sax in a ww choir for the past few months. I've realized just how out of tune this horn is. All the people who have also tried it say it has terrible intonation. I've had the horn set up and checked over so I know it's not like that. The horn is an early LA sax. Upon looking into it, I don't think it is a 650.

When I say terrible intonation I mean TERRIBLE. The only note in tune for anyone is an A. everything else is literally 20 cents sharp or more or 20 cents flat or more. on faster things it is impossible to get it in tune.

Needless to say, I'm thinking I just need to replace it. I've heard a lot of great things about kessler horns, but not much about the sopranos. How is the intonation and tone? It looks like the keywork is similar to selmer's which is good for me since I play a selmer alto. The antique finish would also match my alto so that would be sweet.

Thanks!

Jacob

I second that - I'd like to know about the Kessler sops if anybody has one? Anyone?

^^That's the problem. I haven't seen anybody with one. Maybe Dave himself can come and comment on it since he of all people would know best and I trust his judgement.

Hi Guys,

I have a Kessler Custom Deluxe Soprano and am very happy with the intonation. The lower register plays flatter than the upper register, but I haven't had a problem controlling the tuning for any particular piece of music. Almost all sopranos go sharp as you go high so if you play soprano you should be used to bending the high notes down

I just played a solo gig at church this morning and it was a big hit. The music director said I was a bit flat, but it was flat consistently across the entire range, so that equals good intonation to me. Maybe he should tune his piano, lol.

Sorry my post isn't more timely, but I just saw it.

Regards,

Kris

This isn't an issue for me anymore. I am using the schools new YSS-475 and intonation is MUCH better.
