We got our first of the Unison 5005L professional baris in today. Beautiful horn.

They have redesigned the ergonomics some that make the right hand no where near as spread as before and the left hand pinky table much mroe comfortable.

Plays extremely well.

WOW! Looks like a monster horn. The previous versions were excellent, especially for the price (not really just for the price, they were worth quite a bit more). This one looks even better. The left hand pinky cluster was already pretty good this does look even better.

The sound is the thing though and the previous versions were excellent in that aspect as well. I can't imagine it went downhill. The alto and tenor I tried at NAMM were definite improvements.

Yea I'm finding these Unison Bari's to be very tempting.

I've played tenor almost exclusively (a little alto) for about 15 years now and really want to get a new bari. I had an old Buescher Tru-Tone bari from the 30's for a while but it was so old and out of adjustment I never got to really enjoy the experience. Plus there was no low A. :D

My only concern is that I'll be disappointed because I'm so spoiled on my current horn. I play a nickel silver Keilwerth SX90R with a Peter Ponzol M2+ mouthpiece and I absolutely love that horn. I just hope the Unison plays well enough for me to really enjoy it.

Pretty much the only other horn that I've been considering besides it is the Keilwerth ST90.

Any of you had both in your hands or want to comment on either one?

Despite my better judgement I'm really considering just taking on some more debt and getting one. I don't have the money but I figure I can pay $100 - $150 per month on it for a couple years. I know...irresponsible but hey you only live once damnit.

As a quick question, are these leaning more towards being Yani stencils than Selmer or Yamaha? I'm going to need a backup horn at some point, and the cheaper I can get one, the better.

Also, what news on your trial bari mouthpieces?

Has anyone besides Dave K played one of these? Please share your impressions.
