I ordered my 67R from Tim from Saxalley two weeks ago and I was wondering if my sax was going to look like this from the pmauriat website (http://www.pmauriatmusic.com/images/bigsax/pmxa67r.jpg) or like this from junk dude. (http://www.junkdude.com/saxes/pics/pmauriatpmxa67a.jpg)

a mix of both.

most likely yours will come without engravings but the vintage finish isn't as dark as the catalogues. Also, you will most likely get the turquoise pearls as the one on junkdude (it's actually my sax btw muhaha) it was the first one dave got in and it was an earlier 67R when they didnt have the turquoise pearls yet.

aww man. That dark lacquer and the engraving looked pretty sweet. At least I got the pearls.

Can't wait for my sax to come in. It's been two weeks and four days (18 days) and my sax still hasn't shipped yet from Tim! It's torture!!

BTW: Anyone have any pictures of their P 67R that'd they like to post up?

I just checked http://www.pmauriatmusic.com/ and it looks like they just updated the website. I checked the section on the PMXA-67R and it says:

‧Bell and body: Dark lacquered brass, with special hand made engraving.
Does this mean it's a special feature or are they now doing engravings on all PMXA-67Rs?

Surely, they don't all come with those pearls now, do they?

I'm pretty sure they do now Morry... I spoke with a couple dealers and they both told me their recent shipments had the turqoise pearls. It seems like the R I got (forgot if you had a 66R before you sold yours) were of earlier production before they had those turqoise pearls... so in a way... quoting Dave @ junkdude... normal pearls are more "rare" lol

I looked at that site Hiya.... I heard they just moved to another production facility hence all the backlog but maybe in that transition, they have standardized many things... maybe they do come engraved now.

well once you get yours... let us know :D

Well, I'm sure there are folks out there that will love those pearls, but it looks silly on the horn to me. The whole idea of a "vintage" finish is screwed up by the turquoise pearls.

Morry,
I'm one who loves the pearls! (black pearl) I think it gives the horn a cool look. Someone walked up last week at church and just stopped, admired the horn and said "That sax looks like something I'd like to have in my house as a sculpture." That's the way I feel about them too. I've heard it is good to get your horns out of the case and set them up to let 'em dry out after a gig, so I get to have these sculptures in MY house!

I just got my 66R last Thursday. Got the 67R about 3-4 weeks ago. After I've had a chance to live for a little while with the alto, I'll have to say I love it. However, after only 4 days with the tenor, this is simply the best sounding tenor for me!!! I played the offeratory this morning...I got more compliments on my sound than I could count. I'm playing it with a Berg 95/0M. I have a smoother sound with this horn and I couldn't be happier. :D

Let's talk about the colors. Both of my horns were made after the switch to the new factory. The alto is really dark...almost gray. I expected the tenor to look the same. When it arrived I was a little disappointed that it looks more like the Ref 54 with just a little gray in the places that make it look more antique. I'll post a photo when I get a little more time to set up my website.
