View Full Version : Can't fit Pad Saver in a Contoured Case..?
I have here with me a supposedly Freistat contoured case for tenor saxophone..but I can't seem to have the sax sit properly with the HW Pad Saver inside the sax...the case seems to be designed not to accept any neck plug...
Is this what happens on every contoured hard cases like SKB and the like?
The octave mechanism just sits one the interior of the case...not in any danger I suppose..
Hi Edo,
I have noticed the same thing with my old SKB case (that I no longer have) I dunno about newer SKB models (the ones with the trap inside to put neckstrap and accessories) but the older model definately was short of half an inch I'd say, to allow the sax to fit in properly with a neck plug.
(BTW I don't reccomend that you leave the pad saver inside the sax to store in the case, but neck plug is a good idea to prevent davage to the octave key mechanism)
Fortunately the SKB's contour is Styrofoam. It can easylly be sqweezed to a larger fit using pliers. This was what I did back when I had the case. Or if you are feeling "crafty" and like to give yourself a lot of troubles. you can modify the case contour shape to fit exactly your sax and make room for the neck plug. I actually did that with that same SKB before I gave it to a friend. Ceck it out at : Case For CONN 6M (http://saxontheweb.myforums.net/viewtopic.php?t=2601)
Thanks for the info..
I'm not sure I can squeeze the interior..I'm not even sure it's styrofoam..
I'm gonna leave it be for the time being..don't have that much in my hand right now..:)
