Just to compare of the following two Guardala tenor:
Artist Series DG-500GL
Pro custom Series DG-501CL
1) How's the sound? Any big difference? Which is more worthy to buy if use for Jazz (need more rich, warm & thick sound)?
2) How it compare with Selemer Ref 54, 36 & Series III?
No Earth-tone, no Black Nickel DG-500BN or DG-501BN, please. I already test on tehse three horns, just don't know how's DG-500GL & DG-501CL.

Hello,
I own a DG-500GL, it has a very rich tone, and the
response using my Brecker I mouthpiece is good.
The lacquer is a very deep almost a butterscotch gold.
However! The horn will need to get the (r.h.)Bb palm key will
need to be raised, or cork layered up, it is very awkward.
Two weeks later this horn was eclipsed by the Mark VI http://www.kbspace.com/ebaypics/DCP_0004.jpg , my very first, and
the best part is , the seller ,and I studied with the same teacher in miami.
I always tired of hearing Selmer Mk VI this, and that, but now that I own
a good one......I now understand.
Bottomline. The Guardala is a good horn, and just needs some tweaking.
For a big sound I also recommend investigating a Conn 10M, my backup horn, and heck if it's good enough for Dexter Gordon, isn't it worth a try?
Best regards,
Paul

The Black Nickel DG-500BN I've test is not that case. All the fingering scale, key position are very good, almost the best I've test until now.
