Does anyone have any opinions comparing SA80 with a SA80II? :?:

I owned a super action 80 alto for about 6mos'. Its the only one I've tried. Compared to the few II's I've tried the II's seem to have a fuller more robust tone. The 80 I had had a nice solid tone but was a bit more "airy".

Well, the only tenor sax i've ever played is a SA802 and i like, it especially the fat bottom register, alltough i would think that a mark VI would be better from the altos i've tried, but that's a totally different pricelevel and it's also a totally different sax, you should try out a few SA802 saxes and try for yourself, no one can tell you what you will think of it.

My teacher uses a SA80 I and I think its a good horn. But I heard that there are a lot of better horns out there than the first series. I heard that SA 80 Series II is a lot better than the first though and quality of tone and everything.

When I first came into the Marine Band all we were using were the S 80's. Since the arrival of the series II personally I'd have to say that the series II is a better horn. More responsive faster action. Niether one of them hold a candle to the five digit Mark VI that I own. However I do own a Black S 80 series II tenor and I still can't find it's equal.
