alto XL vs SmoothBore HELP! comments...

Hi I play with a XL 8 (plastic delrin) on alto sax I am happy
nevertheless I would like a more sound' powerful.
I love the sound of David Sanborn and I would like to approach more me' to that sound.
I would like therefore to try the SmoothBore (xl metal)?
At do you say of it? Is it able' to make my case?
What differences of sound there are between the Smooth Bore and the XL (plastic delrin)?

My experiance on metal vs Delrin Quantums is that the metal ones are darker and therefore not as loud. This may have something to do with the thin beak of the Quantum, so I do not know if this will translate over to the XL/Smoothbore.

try a rico plasticote reed .it will add brightness and power .i use this combo with my x.l and it sounds very much like a dukoff

Bari brand plastic reeds are also very bright and loud. Worth trying.
