Are there any gospel music arranger for the horn section ?

I am starting some project for our horn/brass section this coming Summer, and really have to hear what others say about it. I need some concept /

We are more into comtpry. Gospel , and we now have 2 tmpt / 1 tnr / 1 alto/ 1 tmb in the band , all of them have at least 5-7 years or above of playing experience.

Thanks

This is a very good chance for you to get in to arring!!!! put on one of your favourite records and try to trancribe the horn parts, and fill in the blanks....

the i do it is:
1. first get the key and the kord progression (usually what the bass player plays)
2. listen for/transcribe the "lead" part of the brass section.
3. where it's "blocked out" just use the cords from step 1. and fill in the cord tones under the lead part (ex. if the lead is the 7th, fill in the 5 and 3rd and root (maybe in different octavs experiment) *under* the lead) if the melody tone is not a kord tone (like a 4th or 6b) experiment with dim. kord....

Sky is the limit.... whay not try doing it your self

Go to the main page of Sax On The Web, and find my articles. I have a series called, Orchestration for Saxophones that may be of help to you.

http://www.saxontheweb.net/Coats/OrchSax1.html

And at the bottom of that page, is a button to click to go to the next installment and the next. Right now, 4 in all.

I had an R&B band with just that instrumentation, 2 tpt, AT saxes, tbn. You can do a lot with that.
