Ok, I've always knew Brecker was a very popular and highly respected saxophonist, but I had no idea that he recorded so much as a sideman. I went to his Wikipedia page and at the bottom it showed his discography. There must have been well over 150 albums he's recorded on as a sideman.

That's insane!

He's done a lot more than 150 as a sideman I believe. More like 400-500.

720 albums as a sideman. That's insane. It might even outnumber Phil Woods' albums.

Now you know why he's so popular. He's one of, if not the, most-recorded sax players ever.

720 sounds better. i was thinking that 150 was a good year for him.

For the record, I do have enough of a life (but just barely) not to sit here and count each album. I just copied and pasted the link into MS Word, then hit "word count." 720 lines = 720 albums.

The discography is not complete (by far) by the way. I'm adding some albums on wikipedia every now and then when I have a spare moment. But there are albums in every musicians life who has done studiowork which don't arrive on any list.

Has Brecker ever won the "Best Saxophonist" award in Down Beat Magazine?

Wow, that website is pretty firghtening. Who has the time to assemble all of that information?

I'm not even sure it's complete, either. I'm pretty sure he played on at least one Parliament album that's not listed on there.

The link is not a discography. It is a list of the collection of this Japense collector. There is something like that on my site. Click on "commercially released"
These kind of lists will never be complete, and it's also not my intention to complete it as it costs to much time.
