I just got a King Tempo bari from a poster here, and I have to get a lighter case for it. I've got some ligament damage in both shoulders, so just picking the heavy wood shell case up to get it out of the closet is uncomfortable.

Anyone have any idea what fits the Superba II/King Tempo bari well. It is a Bb horn, and I don't care about optimum protection. I'm not shipping it, checking it, or otherwise stowing it away where it can get damaged. I just want basic protection from minor bumps, and to keep the dust off.

I'm currently using a Protec standard case for a King Tempo A bari. Not very elegant and a little bulky, but not too heavy and it works with a shoulder strap plus you can slip a bari stand under the handle and still have two hands free.

I wonder how my Bb version would fit in the same case?

Both Protecs (shaped and rectangular) are set up to accommodate both Bb and A horns and have plenty of bell space. They don't support the horn at the bell but rather at the end of the bow, seriously cradle the crook, and compress at the lower stack.

I like the rectangular case because you can stand it on end (like many Selmer and Yamaha tenor cases) to get it out of the way. The shaped case is very precarious on it's end.

I guess I'll try one of the rectangular cases. My townhouse space is limited, so standing it on its end would be an advantage. It has to be lighter than the old woodshell case that the horn came in.

Winter Alu-case is lightweight and fits Keilwerth made horns.

Subtone Sam...where can the Winter Aluminum cases be found?

I don't know that I'd stand one of the ProTec coffin/rectangular cases on end. It's actually trapezoidal, meaning one end's wider than the other. Plus the wide end, which would be more stable, is the neck end. I don't think it'd be a good idea to stand your bari on it's neck. I will agree it's got a lot of storage, holds the horn well and is comparitively light.

I just received an email from Johnson Cases (Walt Johnson. They have informed me that they are currently producing a contoured Low A bari case that can be customized for a JK bari sax. Price is about $400

Unfortunately, my King Tempo JK stencil is a Bb.

Ok, this is ridiculous. Retailers are telling me that Winter doesn't make an aluminum case to fit a bari. But some of you guys are recommending them, so what's up?

I was hoping to find it cheaper than 390 Euros + 120 Euros shipping.

Morry, did you check out the Saxofoonwinkel yet? They usually can give a very good price on these cases and shipping out of Holland is MUCH cheaper than Germany, for some odd reason.
