Hi there!
I don't know if this is the right spot to ask this, but because this is the tenorspot I thought I'd give it a try.
I love Houston Person's playing, but can't find his website anywhere, I'd like to go and see him play. Does anyone here know where I can find dates for his gigs?
Thanks a lot!
Greetings, Emiel

Houston is my favorite tenor player, and I have not yet been able to see him play live either! It's really a shame that he doesn't have a good website, because so many sax players are oblivious to his existence, and better marketing could help address that problem.

I saw him in Vancouver a couple of months ago. It was a great night. I would encourage anyone who has the chance to see him live to do it.

He's great. I saw him a few years at Pearl's in SF. He had woman on organ who lives in Paris named Rhoda Scott.
Hard to believe but she even stole the show from Houston. It was one the best nights of music I ever heard ( & I remember seeing Coltrane.)
They were a great pair.

I got to see Houston in a small recital hall (200 seat) at Stanford a year or two back at the jazz workshop. Very cool...nice guy, too. Really had a huge sound and very melodic player. I am a tenor player, and while I had heard the name, had never heard his music before. If you want a great introduction, listen to the stuff that he recorded with Teddy Edwards (another relatively unknown but awesome tenorist) like "Horn to Horn"
Amen on "Horn to Horn" - great stuff.

Thanks for the "Horn to Horn" tip. I have about 7 Houston Person cd's, but I didn't know about this one... heading to Amazon now.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies!
Yes, he's great! I have 14 of his records and they're all great. He should really have his own website, but still he hasn't got one (that I know of).
I'd love to see Houston play live, I guess I've just got to keep my ears open.
Thanks!
