I know mine's #28, but does anyone know how many were officially made?

I think it was about 150 altos and tenors together, not sure how many of each. I have no 142 alto and have had (and sent back) two tenors and previously owned another earlier alto. I bought 142 about a year ago and I know B&H released a few more earlier this year too. When I was looking for a tenor earlier in 2003, I was also told that if the one I was due to receive did not turn up, they would make me one! As it happened the one they sent was a lemon and I gave up on it. I am not absolutely sure, but I THINK the number might have been 168, but I cannot remember absolutely for sure.

I currently own an Anniversary Alto and Tenor. I checked out the question and answer forum on Boosey and Hawkes site. Someone asked the question about how many of each Anniversary edition was made. Here is there reply
"Keilwerth Anniversary Saxophones
We made in total 142 altos and 144 tenors. We are glad to hear that you like this model so much. "
Here is the link: http://www.boosey.com/cgi-bin/sqlforum.exe?name=doContent&Forum=Julius+Keilwerth +Saxophones&Thema=SX90R+75th+anniversary+saxes&rsn b=12&rsnbtotal=68

P.S. I am getting tired of polishing the silver on these horns. I would like to get a brighter horn and was thinking of the nickel silver models. If anyone is interested in my Anniversary horns I would like to sell them as a set. Both are in excellent condition.
You'd do better selling them separately. I might be interested in the tenor, or if you can't split them, what's your price for both?

So if mine is 142 alto out of a run of 142 does that mean I got the last one?!

Maybe so. Of course, last built and last sold wouldn't have to be the same thing, probably wouldn't be. The last sold (at original retail) would be the real "last one," but who could prove it?
So, yeah, if you have 142, for all intents and purposes, sounds like the last one to me.
It would be fun to track all the JK 75 altos and tenors, just to see where they've wound up. My alto is either 128 or 124; can't remember which and I don't have it at hand. I bought it new at Lemca, in Antwerp, in the fall of 2001.
How about the rest of you guys and gals--who are the JK 75 owners?

Well I know mine wasn't the last sold, as I bought and returned a tenor about a year later, and the same retailer still has a new alto for sale. At one point last year, in the US, they released a few to retailers at knock down prices in lieu of incentive payments that they were unable to honour, that is how I got mine. Several were due to come back from the US distributor, there was an accounting fraud there that ultimately brought down B&H instruments and several unsold Anniversaries were supposed to be in a consignment back to Europe. At least, this was told to me by two separate UK retailers. Interestingly, when I was trying to get a tenor (and I won't be bothering as I've had two and they both sucked) I was told if they couldn't get hold of one of those in transit, JK could make me one. Who knows, could be a load of distributor bottom-speak especially as the company was about to change hands.
I have # 98 , an alto. Too bad it just sits there in it's case - I'm so into the tenor at this point that I never play it. Sometimes I wonder if I should sell it since it represents a lot of money just resting on a shelf, but it plays beautifully and you never know when things might change and I'll need it.

and here's a scoop...there is one more tenor in the factory! I saw it back in April when I visited...not for sale either!

As far as I know the numbering goes through for tenor & alto, so alto #142 wouldn't be the last one but somewhere in the middle.

Randall, as I recall, the tenor at the factory is not a true Anniversary in that its bell (and maybe neck) are pure silver rather than plated brass. But hey, I'd take it if they wanted to sell it cheap.

Hi MAG, good to hear from you. I wasn't aware that that one was a sterling bell and neck model?!
I tried to buy it too but was politely told "not for sale"!
Have you seen or heard from Stephan lately...he's been very much incommunicado these days- wondering what's up there. I am squirming here waiting for my bari to come.

Haven't heard anything. Maybe he's just really busy--I suspect so. So, you've got a bari coming?

Hi MAG, Yeah, he is really busy. Actually I just heard from him.
Evidently my bari will be coming fairly soon, so I am excited.
I unloaded by older SX90 black bari about 2 weeks ago...so I am jonsin' to get back into bari playing. Gotta tell you, it was a hard thing to do..
Have you been over to see him lately?

Why'd you sell your black nickel bari? Is Stephan making you a satin silver one??
I've been swamped at work, and I'm leaving for the states in a week. Haven't been to see Stephan since last fall. But once I get settled stateside I'm gonna order my straight alto. He already knows what it's gonna be--why not ask him since I don't want to post it hear--if I did, everyone would soon want one just like it.

"Why'd you sell your black nickel bari?"
To finance the new bari :o Ask Stephan about it, or email me: ranran@gol.com
(for similar reasons, I don't wanna post it here)

Randall, how open are the JK folk to special requests? I'd love to have a brushed nickel bari.

They do make special orders, but you need a good dealer to get efective communication, most dealers who work through the old B&H network were totally incapable of getting any service or parts whatsoever. I think Stephan used to work there and has contacts.
Looks like xraydog is good to his word regarding moving to another horn...

That opportunity ought to make someone happy! 8)
Imagine my surprise, USA Horn has one for sale as well!
Same old story of feast or famine - they're either available or not. There's no excuse not to have one anymore.
