Hi

I got my Kessler Custom Tenor yesterday, what a great instrument.

Took it to my tutor today, he was impressed.

Withstood well the journey from the US..! great packing.

Another satisfied Kessler customer.

The thumb hook leaves a bit of a mark on my right thumb though - guess I need to shorten the neck strap.

Nothing like another satisfied customer. Sharing your positive experience serves to help others in similar circumstances. I hope you enjoy many hours of playing time with your new tenor.

Got my Kessler Tenor today, too. But as soon as i got home, i had to leave again. I live in an appartment, and by the time I got back, it was too late to play without disturbing the neighbors.

I just got the Kessler Custom Tenor today - brushed with polished keys. It is exactly what Dave said, a "free-blowing" vintage sounding horn. The sound does compares favorably to the 1947 Zephyr that I have, though a tad brighter and not as rich (to my ears), it does have that sound. Very well balanced and excellent intonation. Great value for the price - and the MPC upgrade to the Custom OL& Pro is fantastic - it is a great MPC.

I'm very, very pleased with the tenor. Besides, it is already my wifes favorite horn - she wants to know if I can now sell some/all of those "old smelly horns"? :? I told her, "smelly is in the nose of the beholder, to me they are roses in full bloom" ;)

Well, to be honest - my 1 and only tenor felt lonely - thought I was discriminating against Bb. "Why should Eb be so privileged?", she'd constantly question and sigh. I tried to explain that the soprano is Bb as well. She wasn't buying it. After all, "the soprano hangs out with no one and thinks its reeds don't stink. He was born with a silver-plated spoon in his mouth." Again, points I couldn't argue. So what choice did I have?

Other than that, sure - a fair amount of GAS is always good. Besides, my 8 year old daughter is starting on alto, and I hope to one day enjoy duets using altos or tenors... and on that note, I'll have to get another tenor along the way... he's only 4, but I'm sure my son wants to be a saxophone player. At least those are the visions that I'm having... :D hey, I'm psychic.

Rather than start a new thread I thought I would revive this one.

I would first like to qualify my opinions by stating that I have not played tenor for a number of years, am not currently gigging and don't have a ton of experience on tenor.

Received from Kessler Music on Friday 5/12 my Kessler Custom Deluxe in the brushed finish. Not only is it a very beautiful horn but it has good scale and tone as well. The timbre is rich, open and can be bright or warm depending on what you are after. The dynamic range is also very acceptable. It was also very well set up by Chuck Kessler. The only adjustment that I made was to open up the low C key to help the low D speak with the same authority as all of the adjacent notes (seems as though low D on tenor is naturally a bit stuffy). This also helped to raise the pitch of Low D as well!

The engravings are very, very well done, especially considering the retail price of the horn, only $1195. And, the Kessler OL7 Pro mouthpiece works well for me as well.

Equally important to me is how great and refreshing it is to deal with Dave Kessler. Big thanks to Dave and Chuck!

Even though I don't post very much I do read through the forum often. For me, the workmanship and playability of these horns (at least the one I received) has motivated my review here. For the money I can't imagine a better horn. Kudos to the Kessler Music!
