Got my Jody Jazz ESP .110 today, and the initial results are very impressive! Took a few tries with different reeds, etc, but I'm very close to the sound I was looking for. Ended up with Alexander Superial 2.5's. I have a very dark natural sound, so it was a little dark for me even with the spoiler, so I made some baffles with dental wax which REALLY helped a bunch. So now I have very close to the sound I was looking for, in a piece that is the easiest playing piece I've ever picked up! I'm not a real altissimo player yet, but think that is about to change with this piece! They just pop right out with no effort at all! The same thing is true for the lows... I played subtones all thw way down, with no effort as well. I haven't gotten to play with it much since I figured out the baffle that worked, but I will tomorrow. I'm very excited about it, and will keep updating for anybody interested. By the way, has anybody else out there tried baffles in there ESP??? If so, what shape works best for you?? Right now is like a baffle in my Berg Larsen with the sudden drop off at the back. Tomorrow I'm going to try one with the "bullet chamber". I look forward to hearing other's impressions on the piece.

What horn you use on your ESP?

Does 110 tip open size easy to play? I'm not sure if it is much more difficult to handle than 100 or 105 (I used to play a V-16 T75 & Metal Link 7).

What common you give to ESP? Bright and easy to play? A dark and not so easy to play?

Have you put the spoiler on it and how's the sound?

You sound excited about that piece and I don't want to rain on your parade but isn't it kind of a bummer that you spent $325 on a mouthpiece and you feel the need to put a dental wax baffle in it?

I think it makes sense to customize a piece to get the sound you want, if you know how. I agree that it can be done on a lower cost piece. But if this path gets you to where you want to be, go for it.

Hi all,
I just got also my new ESP .100 yesterday.

Fantastic piece ! My number one for sure. :D

I was using a Berg Larsen Gold Ebonite 105/2 on my Ref54 and I found it a very good piece but a bit too bright for my jazz playing.
I then tried several 7* Links but all were stuffy and difficult to play (with a nice sound nontheless). I also tried some Lawton and Ponzol M2.
The ESP has a very beautiful intonation, close to the Link but with a significantly better projection and a more centered focussed sound. You can really push it far if you want to do so. I am even NOT using the spoiler, as the projection is quite OK with Alexander #3 reeds.

Last point : very easy to play from day 1.
A must to try ... and a pleasure to discuss with Jody !
