Hi all,

I've been researching and have heard of an oboe mouthpiece made to fit a clarinet reed. Does anyone know who made them and if they are still avaliable?

Thanks. Any info would help.

You heard . . . almost right.

Years ago, Chedeville produced some very small mouthpieces shaped like clarinet mouthpieces to fit an oboe. They come up for sale now and then on ebay - expect to pay $100-200. They use a reed considerably smaller than any reed produced today, so you still have to carefully cut a reed down to size to fit the mouthpiece. This includes narrowing the reed as well as shortening it. The mouthpiece is tiny . . . really tiny, and feels almost nonexistant in the mouth.

Interestingly enough, Runyon still produces mouthpieces along the same idea for bassoon . . . but unfortunately not for oboe.
